What makes our dyslexia training so effective?

Online Reading Tutor is an app-based learning solution aiming to help children who are reading delayed or have a reading disability like dyslexia. To date, Online Reading Tutor has helped over 2000 people achieve a grade-level reading comprehension. We have achieved this though:

Individualized Assessment
Our free assessment gives an indication of the actual reading abilities relative to grade level. It is the first stage of our app and can help identify specific areas of difficulty in reading. The results will let you know your learners’ risk level in regards to dyslexia or reading delays. The assessment only takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete and you will be provided with immediate results of the assessment via email.

Unique Learning

Our program is designed in a way that allows your child to work at their own pace towards continuous progress. These lessons include an instructional video, a warm-up session, and lesson parts which allow students to master each of the learning concepts.

Flexibility
Students can learn anywhere, anytime and have unlimited access to their Orton-Gillingham based lessons.

Auditory-Visual Exercises
Our lessons contain auditory visual match exercises, where students hear the target letter pattern and simultaneously see three choices. The student chooses an option and the program then measures how accurately students answer each question and the consistency in their pace. Through this process, students begin to develop automatic and fluent decoding skills, as auditory-visual match decoding exercises are especially effective for struggling readers.

Frequency
It is very difficult for a struggling student to have positive outcomes with traditional tutoring at home or at a “brick and mortar facility.” There are two reasons for this. First, traditional tutoring sessions are often too long to have productive learning. Most children “zone out” after 45 minutes of tutoring. Secondly, traditional tutoring is too infrequent to build the neural connections that is required for new learning to occur. It is the frequent but intense training that makes Online Reading Tutor so effective. Five, 30 minute quality training sessions per week leads to better outcomes than one or two longer sessions with a traditional tutor.
